Yoga for beginners is also combined with meditation and visualization techniques that assist in relaxation and stress reduction. As you learn to relax your parasympathetic nervous system. Your entire body is let go and free of all of the daily tensions it carries. Yoga is about taking care of your physical body, mental body, and astral body. But it has a system of five bodies, these are called koshas. Or five sheath layers.

The best thing A beginner could learn in yoga is how to breathe correctly. Diaphragm breathing is the proper way to breathe. But because we lose this along our way in life the breath becomes shallow. It is important to breathe better. So you bring more prana into your bloodstream and oxygenate your cells.
When you learn to relax the tension in your body, you completely let go and the body enters a deep state of relaxation where you’re aware and awake. Being conscious of the tensions and learning to let go is the true state of relaxation. Combined with relaxed abdominal diaphragm breathing.
Your autonomic nervous system which is also known as your sympathetic and parasympathetic nervous systems, is when you’re suffering from chronic stress, your body spends time in “fight or flight”, carried out by the sympathetic nervous system, and not enough time in “rest and digest”, facilitated by the parasympathetic nervous system.
Sattvic diet is the purest food. The food is calming, rejuvenates the body, and has the most prana. This is the food of choice for most yogis. Yoga practitioners follow A very strict vegetarian diet. With plenty of whole food, and naturally organic food.
Rajasic food stimulates and contributes to physical and emotional stress. Examples are Fish, eggs, chicken, all whole pulses and dals (not sprouted), hot spices like chilies and pepper, salt, eggplant, onion, garlic, radish, tea, coffee, aerated drinks, and chocolate.
Tamasic food destroys the prana of the mind and body alike. They are harmful to humans. And they lower your vibrational frequency. Tamasic foods have a dulling effect on the mind, lower resistance to disease, cloud the mind, and promote negative emotions. Eventually leading to inertia. They block the flow of energy and produce harmful toxins. Some examples are fast food, fried food, frozen and canned foods, microwaved foods, processed foods, stale food, alcohol, drugs, chemicals, mushrooms, margarine, red meat, beef, sausages, bacon, and ham.
These foods are considered to be highly harmful to the body, mind, and soul.
Yoga philosophy teaches us the Yamas and Niyamas. These are moral values and restraints. The do’s and don’t. Sort of like the 10 commandments.
